It is the mechanism by which a democracy fills elective offices in the legislature, and sometimes the executive and judiciary, and in which electorates choose local government officials.

Gibraltar elects on national level a legislature. The House of Assembly has 17 members, 15 members elected for a four year term in one constituency with each voter getting to vote for their selection of eight candidates, and 2 members ex-officio.

Results

Below is a series of results from elections to the Gibraltar House of Assembly. Elections take place roughly every four years, and 15 members are elected at each election, using partial block voting. Each voter has eight votes, meaning that parties usually stand eight candidates, and the winning party is that which manages to get all their candidates elected.
