The ages of A and B ten years ago were 7x - 10 and 6x - 10 respectively.

According to question,

\(\frac{{\left( {7x - 10} \right)}}{{\left( {6x - 10} \right)}}=\frac{9}{7}\)

⇒ 49x - 70 = 54x - 90

54x - 49x = 90 - 70

5x = 20

x = \(\frac{{20}}{5}\)

x = 4

Present age of A = 7x = 7 × 4 = 28

Present age of B = 6x = 6 × 4 = 24

Average of present ages of A and B = \(\frac{{28 + 24}}{2} = \frac{{52}}{2} = 26\)

Hence, average of the present ages of A and B is 26 years.
